The Magic Egg Experiment

On Friday our class did a science experiment.
What we needed was a hard boiled egg, matches and a glass bottle.
The egg has to slip in the bottle without breaking.
We all tried to predict how the egg would get into the bottle, and what to do with the matches.
But we had no good ideas. We followed the proceedure:
1. Peel the shell off the egg. 2 Light a match and put the lit match inside the bottle. 4. Place the egg on top of the bottle. Then the egg will slowly slip through.
We talked about how it happened and why it happened. Fire needs oxygen and fuel and the reason the egg fell into the bottle is because fire used all the oxygen in the bottle causing a vacuum and the egg to be sucked into the bottle. In the afternoon we showed our experiment to rm 3 while some of the year 5 and 6's explained how it worked.

  1. Hi Buddy class! We loved looking at your egg experiment. Would like to get together and do some experiments? Love from your Room 15 buddies.
