Year 6 Camp 2011
The two hour trip to Wainui was long but entertaining, because I was calling Jacob names in samoan and he didn't know what I was saying. Whaea Kate and Mrs Wilson stoped to get a coffee and some lollies they bought me and Jacob a Fruju. Once we arrived at the camp site we went to our cabin and unpacked, our cabin was right next door to the teachers cabin. It was time for our 1st activity, it was raining and we had to do kayaking. We all thought we were going to get a wetsuit, but all we got was a spray jacket and a life jacket. Kayaking was a great experience. When we were out in the sea I jumped out of the kayak. Only a couple fell the rest of us jumped. When I jumped out Callum ditched me, I just managed to grab onto the back of the kayak. The second time I jumped out it was shallow and I cut my knee. On the beach there was a huge white jellyfish. We were all freezing cold, I was dripping from head to toe in ice cold water. We went back to the camp site and washed our life jacket and our spray jacket. Then we had a hot shower. For dinner we had pasta, veges and a chicken stew for desert we had walnut ice cream and fruit salad. We also had supper it was biscuits, cake, cupcakes and a cup of milo each. Then we went to bed in my cabin was Lucas Marshall, Jacob Gaskin, Jacob Gant Cowen and Finn Polick.

On Wednesday, the 23rd of November, My Tribe for camp, Tribe 3, were on Low ropes at the yr 6 camp. Low ropes is a team work effort so before we could start we played a few games, games to help trust each other. We headed into the outdoor chapel to play in. One of my favorites was a buddy game. You blind fold your buddy and lead them to a tree. You had to comfort them to know they trust you. A while after most of us were moaning because we really wanted to start, so we did. We walked to the shed full of all the gear. We all chose a helmet each then went back. I felt only a smidge excited to be doing low ropes as some said it was boring and some said it was fun. Once we got to the obstacles we started to touch the equipment, then the instructor told us off. First of all she told us how to do our first activity. We had to balance on a rope with a buddy and move across to the other side. The pair that goes the furtherest wins. I paired up with Sofia and we won. It felt good. Secondly she explained the next two activities. One was a tyre course and the other was a spiderweb. My absolute favourite was the very last, a flying fox. We had to get the whole team into a tire which was on the ground. After, we returned back to the camp. I had such a great time. Everyday at camp was the best.

On the second day of camp my tribe did co-stearing for our second activity we jumped off rooks, kelp surfed, swam with the dolphins. We also had a swimming race. Our teaches name was Anabelle she was cool she like Dolphins just like I do.

Camp Wainui
On the 20th of November the yr6 and yr5 students of St Albans went to camp Wainui. Once we were all there we got organised in to our tribes. We went to our first activity. I was excited because my tribes first activity was archery. Even though it was cold and wet we still went to Archery. After the instructor told us how to be safe and how to use the bow and arrow we took a few test shots then played two game. One was called 'Taking a Holiday' and the second game was called 'Toppings for a Pizza. My favourite was the Holiday game. To get an OK holiday was to get an arrow either in the blue or red three times. To score a great holiday you needed to hit the yellow part of the target three times, then you get to visit France with a movie star with a $1million budget. We had two chances to get the perfect holiday. We then played a similar game but with pizza toppings. Then we packed up and went back up the muddy trail to camp for a rest and food.
